About The Position

Our team is expanding and looking for a Senior Purchasing Manager for our Minth North America region to be based in Wixom, MI United States. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate who is interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Business Administration or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of purchasing experience or a combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years within the automotive industry.
  • Strong leadership capability.
  • Adept in the use of ERP/MRP systems and employing Lean/Continuous Improvement methods.
  • Proven analytical and negotiating skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Organizational skills for efficient office control.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization's purchasing function and ensure policies, procedures, and strategies related to procurement and sourcing of goods and services are followed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Program Management, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Ensure purchasing requirements and metrics are met at all program milestones and develop and communicate program sourcing strategy.
  • Purchase and negotiate materials, equipment, and supplies from a global supply base and evaluate supplier quotes and services.
  • Assist the VP of Purchasing and Plant Manager with the development/execution of the corporate purchasing plan.
  • Conduct bidding and assist in negotiations to achieve the best possible price, cost reductions, and service guarantees.
  • Negotiate, write, and administer contracts for commodities and parts.
  • Develop new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
  • Examine bids and make recommendations.
  • Negotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitor costs during the time period.
  • Follow environmental and safety regulations and ensure compliance with US laws and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
  • Coach and mentor Buyers.
  • Assist team with day-to-day troubleshooting.
  • Manage team performance, including setting up KPIs, monitoring performance, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation within the Purchasing department.
  • Manage an assigned set of commodities.
