About The Position

HarperCollins is seeking a Senior Publicist to join our dynamic General Books Group publicity team! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work independently on a variety of titles for all imprints within the Harper Group. This is a hybrid position based out of our New York City office.

Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years prior experience in Publicity, with an emphasis placed on booking top-line media in both traditional and digital outlets and author tours.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing effective media pitches.
• Experience working on fiction and nonfiction campaigns.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and creative thinking skills.
• Capable of managing budgets, booking tours and special events.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• A college degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops individual, targeted publicity campaigns for assigned titles.
• Writes press releases and creative pitch letters for each campaign.
• Pitches and books media coverage for authors/titles to print, radio, online/digital, podcasts, and TV outlets.
• Orchestrates book tours and creative off-site events.
• Actively develops and maintains national, regional, and local media contacts.
• Works closely with the marketing, sales, online marketing, and editorial departments.
• Manages the publicity budget for assigned titles.
• Crafts and delivers pitches and news releases to media outlets.
• Provides feedback on publicity potential of book proposals.
• Identifies opportunities for our authors/titles via various media outlets.
