The Neuropsychology Center at Banner Sun Health Research Institute (BSHRI) serves all aspects of the Institute’s mission – to make a difference to patients with age-related disorders through cutting-edge research, clinical care, prevention, and education. The Neuropsychology team includes neuropsychologists, psychometrists, research assistants, post-doctoral fellows, and psychology graduate students. Our team is dedicated to precision and accuracy in administration of neuropsychological measures, compassionate care for our patients and research participants, and collaborative innovation of best practices. The Psychometrist administers and scores standardized cognitive and neuropsychological tests. Assessments take place in diverse contexts, including government- and industry-sponsored research and clinical trials, local and national research consortiums, community-based cognitive screenings, and outpatient clinical evaluations at the Cleo Roberts Memory and Movement Disorders Center. As a member of our team, you will also be engaged in our robust training program, which teaches the next generation of neuropsychologists (graduate students and post-doctoral fellows). The Neuropsychology Center is also called upon for sharing our expertise in cognitive assessment with colleagues across various departments. POSITION SUMMARY This position administers complex, global clinical assessments as well as cognitive and neuropsychological assessments. All employees are responsible for (1) supporting the Company’s goals and mission, (2) for following all Company policies and procedures, (3) for providing quality customer service, and (4) for following safety standards in performing all aspects of the functions below, reporting/removing unsafe equipment and attending safety education sessions.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in psychology, behavioral health or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification from Washington University for Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) scale required upon hire or must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Requires two years of clinical and cognitive assessment experience or related education experience.
  • Requires excellent clinical judgment and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Requires ability to establish rapport with clinical with varying degrees of impairment.

Responsibilities

  • Administers global clinical assessments using semi-structured and unstructured interviews. This position attends training for specific clinical trial and/or research protocols and administers the interviews in accordance with protocols to ensure validity.
  • Scores evaluations and provides required observational summary as relevant. For certain evaluations, enters test data into computer database ensuring accuracy and entry in a timely manner.
  • Attends training provided by research sponsors to understand study protocols, administration and scoring procedures. Conducts interviews with a high level of attention to detail and with strict adherence to study protocols and procedures in order to provide valid test results.
  • May assist in the training of cognitive psychometrists and interns in the proper administration and scoring of instruments, along with the varied nuances of testing including behavioral observations, effort and validity of assessment, and rapport-building with patient/participant.
  • This position is responsible to assess clinical severity of research participants. Confers with supervisor, site neuropsychologist, and/or study investigator for unusual or complex cases. This person will need to function independently and be able to provide a clinical assessment / judgment of severity without guidance from other team members and without access to medical records. This position serves the clinical trials department and pharma sponsors and their CROs.
