About The Position

This position offers the opportunity to provide high-impact psychological services within one of North Carolina’s leading correctional healthcare environments. The Senior Psychologist serves as a senior member of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team, delivering advanced clinical care to an adult incarcerated population with complex and high-acuity mental health needs. Primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive psychological services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, significant trauma histories, and complex personality and behavioral disorders. Duties include conducting diagnostic and forensic-informed psychological assessments; providing evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy; delivering crisis assessment and intervention; and developing clinically sound treatment recommendations that promote safety, stabilization, and rehabilitation. In addition to direct clinical care, this position provides clinical and administrative supervision to psychology staff, trainees, and/or other behavioral health professionals as assigned. Responsibilities include supporting staff development, ensuring adherence to professional standards of practice, contributing to performance management processes, and promoting a culture of ethical, evidence-based care. The Senior Psychologist may also participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of best practices in correctional behavioral health. The Senior Psychologist serves as a clinical consultant to custody, medical, and behavioral health staff, offering guidance on behavioral management strategies and mental health interventions within a secure environment. This role may include conducting violence risk, sexual risk, and other specialized psychological assessments as clinically indicated. Requirements

  • Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270)
  • Two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.
