The Senior Protection & Control (P&C) and System Engineer works on T&D substations for AC, HVDC and FACTS projects with designers, peer engineers & leaders. They are responsible for the review of P&C designs developed by the project teams and confirm compliance with project specifications and applicable Standards. The Engineer should actively work on mentoring the secondary design team and acts as its main technical authority while also representing GE with external standards committees (e.g. IEEE). The Senior Protection & Control Engineer is an established leader in their respective engineering team. The Engineer drives business strategy through detailed technical and economic understanding of the marketplace and takes the initiative to provide customers with the best solutions that positively impact business. Accountable for the proper performance of design in matter of engineering cost time, and quality. While the role is primarily in the review of designs prepared by other team member, the Senior Protection & Control Engineer may be identified as project engineering manager for small to medium size project, which are highly secondary engineering focused. The Senior Protection & Control Engineer shall continuously update themselves with new technology, have a mindset of continuous learning, consistent with grid transition needs, and provide technical direction to the team. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team.
