Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors. We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Engineer in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the PBCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The PBCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the PBCS which is an attitude control and propulsive subsystem controlling the missile in a phase of the flight. This role is as a RSE delegate for the PBCS which provides a single technical point of contact for the entire PBSC and each product within the PBCS while providing continuity of product knowledge and source data. The RSE delegate will develop the PBCS architecture and design while collaborating with component development teams. Management of these component and system relationships provides traceability of all products, the product owners, and the required accountability. The RSE delegate should be a knowledgeable, experienced, trained specialist who will act as a technical advocate for the product through the product's lifecycle from requirements definition through mission operations. This RSE delegate is responsible and accountable for proper performance and Mission Success of the PBCS throughout its lifecycle by resisting inappropriate compromise and risk, and balancing technical performance against cost and schedule pressures while ensuring Mission Success.
