About The Position

Senior Propulsion/Propellant Test and Servicing Technician Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking a Senior Propulsion/Propellant Test and Servicing Technician to join our Space and Launch Division on our Satellite Systems Team in in El Segundo, CA .. This team manages the company's major commercial and government satellite and ground programs for communications, national defense and other missions. Typical Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in the development of and conducts test for flight propulsion and fluid subsystems. Designs, builds, modifies, fabricates and assembles complex test equipment, test fixtures and ground support laboratories and at test and launch sites. Assists in propellant servicing of completed spacecraft. Works from engineering specifications and instructions, test procedures, schematics, sketches, oral and written instructions. Assist in determining test methods and sequence that will be used to obtain required performance data associated with acceptance of test flight components, fluids and propulsion subsystems. Works with electrical components and pneumatic systems with pressures up to 6,200 psi (pounds per square inch) and hydraulic systems pressurized to 21,000 psi. Designs, builds, modifies, fabricates and assembles complex electrical and mechanical test fixtures and equipment used to test and service propulsion and fluid systems including propellant and fluid servicing ground support equipment Conducts flight component, propulsion and fluids subsystem tests. Performs functional testing and propellant servicing operations on propulsions systems at Company and off-site test facilities and on spacecraft, at launch bases, in preparation for launch. Determines method to verify the safety and functionality of test and servicing equipment and conducts verification tests based on methods selected. Performs decontamination and cleanliness certification procedures on flight hardware and test equipment after their exposure to hazardous chemicals. Operates test and fabrication equipment such as oscilloscopes, leak detectors, vacuum pumps, microscopes, precision weighing systems, tube benders and flaring machines; contamination control equipment such as scrubber systems and diionized water flush panels; shop equipment such as forklift and overhead cranes. Records and evaluates test results for completeness and accuracy preparing reports as required. Knowledgeable in all safety requirements and qualified in the operation of safety equipment including air respirators and Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) suites. Must pass an annual propellant and SCAPE physical. May provide assistance to personnel in lower-related job classifications. Performs incidental related duties as assigned or required, such as calibration tracking and equipment management. Security Clearance & Export Control Requirements: This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. This position is expected to be 100% Onsite.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience reviewing engineering documentation including drawings, models, specifications and standards
  • 3 or more years of experience with avionics/Electrical systems and/propulsion, Fluid dynamics, Leak Testing or Pneumatic Panel Operations
  • Must have the ability to carry a 45-pound backpack breathing apparatus for at least 2 hours at a time (SCAPE Suit)
  • Must have the ability to pass an annual Propulsion and Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble
  • 3 or more years of experience with mechanical and electrical testing in the aerospace industry to include proof test, leak test, avionics test and/or functional test
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a forklift or overhead crane
  • A&P (Airframe and Powerplant License)
