About The Position

Mecca Residential is a growing leader in the multi-family residential industry, committed to delivering exceptional living experiences and building vibrant communities. We manage a diverse portfolio of residential properties and are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of multi-family residential properties. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and close collaboration with property management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of property accounting experience, preferably with multi-family residential properties
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting practices
  • Proficiency in Entrata (preferred), Yardi, or similar systems
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Strong ability to quickly learn systems and workflows and independently drive process improvements
  • Experience building, documenting and optimizing accounting processes that align with GAAP and property management best practices

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HUD financed properties
  • Familiarity with investor or partnership accounting

Responsibilities

  • Process and pay monthly property mortgage, insurance and annual taxes
  • Receive, code, approve and pay property payables and expenses
  • Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet analysis
  • Manage full general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements for assigned properties, meeting reporting deadlines
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis and provide explanations to management
  • Support annual audits and provide requested financial documentation
  • Completes regular HUD audits and reserve draws
  • Collaborate with property managers to align financial reporting with operations
  • Assist with cash flow projections and monitor cash activity
