About The Position

This position is accountable for supervising the construction of specially assigned highway construction projects within a specified geographical area of the district and/or supervising the construction of two or more moderately difficult projects. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking to hire Senior Project Technicians. Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS six years engineering experience; OR Eight years of engineering experience.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires districtwide travel.
  • Requires successful completion of a background screening.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
  • All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures projects are constructed to plans and specifications.
  • Ensures complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all work to initiate payment to contracts.
  • Trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for time consideration on projects under their supervision.
  • Responsible for equipment utilized by the department and staff.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
  • Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
