About The Position

A Senior Materials Project Manager actively represents the Enterprise Supply Chain team on the most complex and high-risk product development (PDP) and improvement efforts. Using demonstrated leadership, accountability, and communication skills, they oversee and coordinate activities across multiple Marvin departments and suppliers for all material and supply chain needs relative to their projects. High Risk Materials are those that present the most complexity to product development and design efforts, and the greatest potential risk to product performance in the field. Highlights of your role Mentor other Material partners on PDP/improvement materials-related responsibilities and deliverables. Support new product development projects and product improvement projects by facilitating and coordinating the launch of new/improved materials within the project. Work to ensure a project’s total team success, including working towards established project metrics, standards, and processes by working cross functionally with: Purchasing Agent and/or Buyer Planners, Warehouse / Receiving, Manufacturing / Engineering, R&D, Quality, Project Management Leadership, Suppliers among other departments as needed for each specific project. Monitor Materials’ project tasks (i.e. quoting, ordering sample materials), track component status & request necessary supplier meetings to verify component is fit for use (i.e. print review, DFM, ISIR review) Minimize supplier-induced field failure potential by partnering with Commodity Manager & Quality Capability to ensure appropriate quality measures, validation, inspection and assessment prior to manufacturing release. Oversee material ramp-up and run-down strategies and tactics, including obsolescence cost reporting, monitoring of associated activity & inventory levels, and coordinating necessary disposition of materials. Conduct internal/external Materials meetings with cross functional stakeholders to drive activities related to project materials Follow the PDP Materials RACI chart to complete all PDP tasks as defined. Interface with other business units within the Marvin organization to increase commonality and share/learn best practices. Ensure Materials operations and policies are compliant with the company policies.

Requirements

  • Enterprise-wide product/component knowledge, including warehouse and material handling/knowledge
  • Marvin specific Product development process knowledge
  • Marvin materials processes and Marvin system (ICIM, OMS) knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of material quality requirements, processes and procedures
  • Ability to read and understand material prints and specifications
  • Effective and efficient communication / Organizational skills
  • Confidence
  • Openness to think outside the box
