About The Position

The Senior Project Manager at Rice University will provide strategic direction for planning and implementing marketing projects within the Development and Alumni Relations Division. This role focuses on maximizing the productivity of the marketing and communications team, ensuring that marketing campaigns are executed efficiently and effectively. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate with various stakeholders, manage project timelines, and oversee direct mail initiatives, while also evaluating project metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of related professional experience, including marketing experience with online or direct mail program coordination.
  • Ability to assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or public relations.
  • 3+ years of related professional experience, including formal project management for a marketing/communications team.
  • Experience in a higher education or nonprofit organization.
  • Experience in an advancement organization.
  • Working knowledge of Blackbaud CRM or other advancement system.
  • Experience with direct mail projects and interfacing with print vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and analysis for marketing and communications efforts within Development and Alumni Relations.
  • Create written Creative Work Plans detailing objectives and deliverables for each project.
  • Build comprehensive timelines and manage day-to-day project management of assigned projects.
  • Review and analyze programs to track the success of each campaign and suggest innovations for future appeals.
  • Define and incorporate innovative strategies and best practices for mail and electronic appeals.
  • Create an annual operating plan for overall marketing and communications efforts with team buy-in.
  • Use data and metrics to report on campaign success and suggest improvements.
  • Serve as a consultant to program leads to ensure best practices are used and projects are completed efficiently.
  • Partner with other members of the marketing and communications team to determine overall strategy and provide feedback.
  • Manage vendors on specific projects.
