About The Position

As the Senior Project Manager, you will work onsite in Anchorage, AK and will provide leadership and oversight for large, multi-discipline design/build and construction projects, typically exceeding $5 million and located throughout the company’s operating area. You will be responsible for the overall project strategy, planning, execution, financial performance, and client satisfaction, while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contract requirements. You will also serve as a subject matter resource to Project Managers I and II, Project Engineers, and support staff, and plays a key role in advancing project management best practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • Advanced technical knowledge of field construction concepts, methods, practices, and multi-discipline project coordination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and other project management software; able to develop and manage detailed project schedules.
  • Advanced ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and laptop-based business applications.
  • Strong understanding of construction, architectural, and building industry standards and procedures.
  • Ability to create, read, interpret, and apply complex contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, project ledgers, revenue models, and cost-to-completion forecasting.
  • Knowledge of procurement rules, material sourcing, subcontractor management, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting ability; able to evaluate project performance, identify risks, and implement strategic solutions.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly with executives, clients, partners, and project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, exceptional follow-up and responsiveness.
  • Skilled in organizing resources, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining long-term client relationships and resolving complex project or stakeholder issues.
  • Experience representing the company in high-level stakeholder, owner, or agency meetings and negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of fiscal management principles, contract administration, and cost-to-completion or cost forecasting practices required.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to travel for work-related purposes (up to 10% of the time).
  • Nine (9) or more years of related construction project management experience, including budget preparation, cost estimating, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and fiscal management responsibilities required.
  • Prior experience in Alaska’s rural construction industry is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex, multi-discipline construction projects.
  • Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to Project Managers I and II, Project Engineers, and project support staff required.
  • Valid state driver’s license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving record, and background screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline preferred.
  • Project Management certification (such as PMP or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience with HCCS “HeavyBid” software preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of rural logistics, environmental constraints, and rural construction methodologies strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale construction projects, including estimating, bidding, scheduling, resourcing, and day-to-day oversight.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients and stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and managing expectations.
  • Develop proposals, cost estimates, and bids for new work and change orders.
  • Represent the company in project-related meetings, negotiations, and presentations.
  • Oversee the submittal and approval process, including review of plans, reports, permits, RFIs, and design change/variance requests.
  • Ensure that project documentation—such as contracts, commissioning records, completion reports, as-built documentation, and closeout packages—is accurate, complete, and properly retained.
  • Monitor compliance with project-specific requirements, including technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory obligations.
  • Prepare and review periodic progress reports summarizing materials used, costs, schedule status, and key issues.
  • Direct procurement and scheduling of major materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractor services for assigned projects.
  • Determine labor needs, select and oversee subcontractors, and ensure resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets; monitor profitability, revenue, and margins; and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Review, code, and approve project-related invoices and timesheets in alignment with budget and contract requirements.
  • Conduct regular on-site visits, which may require multi-day and overnight travel, to monitor progress at project locations.
  • Verify that work is performed in accordance with drawings, specifications, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure that project milestones and deliverables are met and that schedule risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to field leadership, including site foremen and project engineers.
  • Actively support and promote the STG Inc. and Calista Brice LLC Health and Safety Programs.
  • Monitor and respond to on-site safety audits and field observations; suspend or modify work when unsafe conditions are identified.
  • Collaborate with the company Risk Manager to resolve safety-related issues that cannot be resolved at the site level.
  • Verify that required safety equipment is available, properly used, and maintained.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees to raise health and safety concerns and ensure issues are addressed.
  • Direct and oversee the work of Project Managers I and II, Project Engineers, and Project Coordinators assigned to projects.
  • Serve as an organizational resource for project-related questions, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-performance team environment across project and operations staff.
  • Participate in periodic management meetings and contribute to strategic discussions related to projects and operations.
  • Seek and participate in professional development and training opportunities to maintain and advance project management expertise.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
