About The Position

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) plays a critical role in supervising staff in the successful execution of architectural projects and programs. This position involves managing multiple programs and staff members with a firm understanding of building systems and code to ensure the team meets the standard of care on all projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, manage multiple large programs with minimal supervision, and ensure financial success, project quality, consultant relationships, and client satisfaction across all engagements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate proficiency in procedures for production of SD, DD, CD’s, CA, architectural planning, detailing, building materials, and an understanding of construction.
  • Accredited degree in Architecture or related field (Preferred)
  • Typically, 8-10 years of successful experience managing multiple, multi-discipline projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant architectural software.
  • Proficiency with Energy Compliance Checks
  • Experience in architectural building systems and construction documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in relevant architectural software and methodologies are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship : Qualified and able to train in all PM and PC Roles & Responsibilities. Provides daily supervision, support and mentorship to Interns, project coordinators, and project managers. Takes a proactive role in mentoring junior staff and participates in firm-wide training initiatives. Assist with staffing forecasts for applicable programs. Performs junior team members quarterly chats and help facilitate annual reviews. Assists with new staff onboarding.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee the coordination and delivery of project documentation, from planning to closeout, ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met. Represent the program as the primary contact and point person for all staff, disciplines, clients, and consultants. Take leadership role in client meetings, presentations, and public hearings, representing the firm with authority and professionalism. Responsible for allocating in-house and coordinating consultant resources, planning and implementing task schedule for respective program(s) and projects prior to commencing work, and documenting milestones (both internal and client deadlines) through duration of projects. Comfortable managing multiple large programs with minimal supervision.
  • Project Execution : Responsible for monitoring the progress of projects and programs to maintain a minimum 90% rating for on-time and on-budget measurables. Monitors project progress using tools such as Ajera and Bloomgrowth and manage KPIs to track performance. Manages construction administration activities, including bidding, RFI responses, submittals, and project closeout procedures. Anticipates and mitigates potential issues that may cause delays, scope creep, and budget overruns. Should such issues arise SPM is responsible for working with SL and PMs to negotiate adequate schedule increase and additional service fees as necessary. Able to effectively and efficiently delegate work to staff members, ensuring the work gets completed correctly and on time.
  • Quality Assurance : Provides milestones and final QC on projects with typical scope. Coordinates with SL to QC complex one-off projects. Initiates and coordinates QA/QC procedures and ensures compliance with building codes, ordinances, and industry standards.
  • Financial Understanding : Responsible for attaining financial success, ensuring the quality of construction documents, adhering to project timelines, and providing exceptional client service for projects and programs. Able to utilize the pricing template to create proposals, determine fees and budgets, and subsequently monitor estimates and actuals. Assumes complete ownership of the assigned proposals and ensure junior staff meets their required measurables. Invoices projects upon completion and coordinates with the accounting team to ensure accuracy. Provides weekly and monthly financial forecasting for programs. Assists the accounting team with collections.
  • Code Competency : Firm grasp of how to apply building and accessibility code to projects and ability to review junior staff’s work. Understanding of, and strict adherence to the TDLR process for all Texas projects. Ability to discuss code and permit comments with applicable AHJ reviewers.
  • Administrative Tasks : Manage time and Expense approval/scheduling/phasing/budgets/invoicing in Ajera in a timely manner. Ajera: approval of timesheets & expense reports, adding estimated/actual completion dates, logging % complete throughout projects, fully billing/invoicing projects, TDLR Widget verification, monitoring/understanding KPI Widgets, project closeout. Assist Studio Lead in tracking scorecard measurable for applicable programs throughout the week. Bloomgrowth: logging data from KPI Widgets into scorecard measurables.
