About The Position

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our El Paso office to support and grow our West Texas practice. This role offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional with expertise in either stormwater engineering or water/wastewater transmission and utilities to lead impactful infrastructure projects that improve communities across the region. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role managing complex projects, mentoring staff, and building strong client relationships. Depending on background and interest, the position may emphasize stormwater planning and design or water/wastewater pipelines, pump stations, and utility infrastructure. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience of relevant engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or comparable engineering or applied science degree)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) (for stormwater-focused candidates).
  • Experience working with municipal clients in Texas or the Southwest.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage your technical prowess to lead the analysis, design, and preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, and reports for our valued clients
  • Cultivate strong client relationships and become a trusted advisor and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Manage, lead, and oversee projects through the full project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and closeout) for design engineering and engineering/construction projects.
  • Manage project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, communications, resources, procurement, and risk management, with accountability for meeting project financial and delivery objectives while optimizing client service and technical quality.
  • Share your expertise and passion by guiding, training and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Provide independent leadership and oversight for project teams, including engineers, analysts, and technical staff.
  • Managing and delivering stormwater capital improvement projects (CIPs), FEMA floodplain studies, watershed master plans, and regional flood mitigation projects.
  • Overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses and modeling.
  • Experience with software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D/unsteady), ICPR4, StormCAD, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD .
  • Overseeing preparation of stormwater design plans, technical specifications, and opinions of probable construction cost.
  • Managing the planning, design, and construction of water pump stations, wastewater lift stations, stormwater pump stations , and large- and small-diameter pipelines .
  • Performing or directing complex engineering studies and investigations and preparing technical reports.
  • Selecting equipment and materials and reviewing or approving shop drawings.
  • Coordinating with construction managers and responding to issues during construction.
