Senior Project Manager - Decatur, IL The Department: The Strategic Project Management Office (PMO) enables the realization of benefits to ADM, through the delivery of projects and/or programs that have been approved and classified as ‘high priority’ by the designated authority within ADM. The Strategic PMO is the regional center of expertise in project and program management at ADM, whereby through best practice and functional knowledge value is created through project delivery. The Role: As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of high-profile, enterprise-wide projects with significant financial impact. You will lead large, complex, and often interdisciplinary projects, ensuring their delivery within the agreed-upon quality standards, timeframes, and budget. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with senior leaders and business sponsors, driving business transformation and process optimization across ADM. You will also play a key role in managing project governance, risk management, and project performance, escalating issues as needed and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

  • End-to-End Project Leadership: Lead high-profile, business-critical projects from ideation through closure, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives. Oversee the entire project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Strategic Governance and Risk Management: Define and implement robust project governance structures, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making frameworks. Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues, implementing corrective actions where necessary. Provide regular updates to the Steering Committee and escalate issues outside agreed tolerance levels.
  • Stakeholder Management : Engage with senior leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle. Lead project steering committees and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring business objectives are met.
  • Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures and Joint Ventures (MADJV) project: Where assigned, manage MADJV projects, focusing on execution of due diligence, planning and pre-close activities, and seamless integration that aligns with business strategy. Lead cross-functional teams to mitigate risks, optimize synergies, and ensure the successful transition of operations, processes, and teams post-acquisition.
  • Business Transformation & Process Optimization: Where assigned, work cross-functionally to redefine and optimize business processes and organizational structures to support ADM's long-term strategic objectives. Lead or support business transformation initiatives, including large-scale change management efforts.
  • Business Case Oversight: Oversee business case assumptions and work with responsible leaders to achieve financial performance targets. Monitor costs, assess deviations, and ensure overall return on investment, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Oversee 3rd party vendors, ensuring that contracted services are delivered as per the agreed terms. Manage contracts, performance, and vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Provide leadership and direction to project teams, fostering a collaborative, results-oriented environment. Mentor and develop junior project managers and team members to build project management capabilities within the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in project management processes, tools, and methodologies, ensuring the adoption of best practices. Contribute to the development and refinement of the PMO’s standards, methodologies, and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree (required); Master's degree (preferred), ideally in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of project management experience with a proven track record of managing large, complex, high-value projects with enterprise-wide impact and/or experience managing or leading global teams.
  • Experience managing at least 2 of the following: business transformation initiatives, M&A, Divestitures, CAPEX, and/or joint ventures.
  • Functions as a subject matter expert in project governance, tools, processes, and is a seasoned risk management professional.
  • Expertise in driving process improvements and innovation, with experience in methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar.
  • Prior experience with vendor management and the oversight of third-party contracts and deliverables.
  • Strong leadership and motivation skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, easily conveys complex information.
  • Able to use negotiation and persuasion skills to drive decisions, engage and influence senior leaders and stakeholders across various business functions.
  • Proven ability to manage change, navigate resistance, and ensure successful project transitions.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align project objectives with broader business goals.
  • Strong judgment and mature decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexibly across different cultures and geographies, managing the complexities of international projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project; additional knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana) is a plus.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software, risk management tools, and collaboration platforms.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Master's degree (preferred), ideally in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
