The primary functions of the Senior Project Manager are to scope, plan, manage, resource load, and coordinate substation projects with the objective of delivering successful projects by ensuring that project goals and objectives are achieved while all business processes and applicable procedures are followed. The position requires a working knowledge of power industry design and construction practices, standards, financial mechanics, business development, and processes as well as the use of independent judgment, enhanced verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited curriculum, and a minimum of 12 years of relevant project experience with at least six years’ experience independently managing complete projects during execution. Desired PM Functions: An individual capable of handling broad scope projects and teams that have medium to long-term focus and applying knowledge to handle complex problems independently under the direction of a Program Manager and/or client management personnel. Initiate projects: Complete project execution and planning documents, which include detailed proposal, scope, and schedule outline while looking for and finding ways to improve operations, process efficiency, and Mesa's high-quality standards. Project Definition: Assist Project Team in defining/clarifying project scope and level of detail required, satisfying customer expectations and projecting requirements. Maintain Project Status: Keep the project status reporting system current with the actions and changes that take place on assigned projects Manage Project Implementation: Leads assigned project team, ensuring that project goals/objectives are achieved, and all business processes and applicable procedures are followed as required by Mesa's Quality Management System. Control costs: Assist Program Manager in controlling project / client expenditures and schedule performance reviews as necessary to satisfy project requirements and ensure satisfactory budget performance on all projects / programs. Communicate effectively with project team, contractors, and vendors as required to facilitate coordination of design or construction activities and flow of technical information. This includes tracking/resolving action items and information requests and assisting the design team in the resolution of technical issues as required Coordinate/Communicate with Peers: Work with project team to identify, document and resolve changes that may impact schedule and budget performance of projects Manage Resources Efficiently: This role will oversee multi-discipline teams who need to be setup for success from a resource loading / management standpoint. This role will require development, recruiting, coaching, and rewarding those teams as required.
