About The Position

GFT is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Construction Services practice in the New York metropolitan region to support a major infrastructure program serving the region. This position will serve as the Project Manager for the program , providing operational leadership within a complex multi-firm environment that includes owner agencies, engineering consultants, and construction contractors. Working closely with the Vice President / Program Manager, the Senior Project Manager will lead the day-to-day coordination of the program’s delivery organization, aligning teams responsible for coordinating construction and design oversight, safety management, program controls, engineering support, and project management activities. The program is entering a sustained construction phase and will continue for multiple years, requiring strong operational leadership to maintain alignment across participating organizations and ensure successful program delivery. This position represents an opportunity to play a central role in the operational leadership of a major infrastructure program while contributing to the broader growth and development of the firm’s Construction Services practice. What you’ll be challenged to do As Senior Project Manager, you will lead the operational coordination of a complex infrastructure program and ensure multidisciplinary teams remain aligned, responsive, and focused on delivery outcomes. You will work closely with the Vice President / Program Manager to drive program performance, maintain communication among stakeholders, and ensure issues are addressed quickly as the program advances through its delivery phase. The role requires a leader who can combine strong organizational and leadership skills with a hands-on approach to program operations , guiding teams through complex challenges while maintaining delivery momentum across participating organizations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
  • 15+ years of infrastructure program or project delivery experience
  • Demonstrated experience directly managing multidisciplinary professional staff within an organizational environment
  • Experience operating within complex infrastructure program environments involving multiple organizations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to drive program delivery while mentoring and developing teams

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License or master’s degree in engineering
  • Experience on major infrastructure programs ($500M+ scale)
  • Career experience within contractor or design-build organizations
  • Experience working within alternative delivery programs DBIA certification
  • Direct railroad or rail-adjacent infrastructure experience beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination across a multidisciplinary program delivery organization responsible for construction oversight, safety management, program controls, engineering support, and project management
  • Maintain alignment among teams across participating firms while keeping program priorities focused on successful delivery
  • Collaborate with senior leadership from owner agencies, consultants, and contractors supporting program execution
  • Identify risks, resolve coordination challenges, and support governance processes that strengthen communication and decision-making
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to program staff while fostering a collaborative and accountable environment
  • Support the growth of the Construction Services practice through infrastructure pursuits, proposal development, industry engagement, and serving as a public ambassador within the infrastructure community
