About The Position

Reporting to the Director, Program Management Office (PMO), the Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects within the PMO portfolio, with a particular emphasis on cloud-enabled solutions and digital transformation initiatives. This role ensures projects are defined, managed, executed, and delivered in a timely and successful agile manner within time, scope, and budget constraints, particularly where Information Services (IS), cloud platforms, data, and enterprise applications are involved. The Senior Project Manager partners closely with business stakeholders, and IS department leadership and staff, and vendor partners particularly vendor project manager(s) to modernize systems, improve operational efficiency, and realize measurable value from digital and cloud investments. The Senior Project Manager will be expected to think strategically and participate in long-term planning efforts to improve project delivery models and quality, as well as project monitoring tools and project metrics to help determine implementation and operational success. Working with the Director, PMO, this position is responsible for incorporating project management best practices. improving overall project portfolio management (PPM) maturity across the ACGME, and tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of all PMO related initiatives.

Requirements

  • Seven years of relevant project or program management experience.
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional technology projects with significant cloud or digital components.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting organizational change and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Five years of experience developing business requirements and supporting process reengineering or automation efforts.
  • Experience evolving an organization focused on portfolio, program, and project management and fostering continuous improvement in a changing landscape.
  • Experience in vendor management, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven expertise in project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, with experience in hybrid delivery models.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud computing concepts, digital platforms, and modern enterprise application environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in planning and execution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across business, technology, and vendor teams.
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide junior project managers.
  • Expert problem-solving skills and proven ability to influence and lead a wide range of cross-functional teams, as well as to work collaboratively with other departments and management to resolve complex issues while developing innovative solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or administration, Information Technology, health, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage cloud, digital, and technology-enables projects from initiation through closure including scope definition, planning, execution, and monitoring; develop and maintain comprehensive project plans using Microsoft Project Professional and Web Application (or other designated tools), schedules, budgets, deliverables, communication plans, risk, action and issues logs, status reports throughout the full project life cycle.
  • Track and report project status, KPIs, performance metrics, risks, dependencies, and value realization using established PMO dashboards and metrics.
  • Manage projects supporting cloud adoption, application modernization, data platforms, and digital transformation initiatives aligned with ACGME strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Director, PMO. And ACGME and IS leaders to plan and implement digital transformation initiatives, including the development and execution of project plans and governance structures, and incorporating comprehensive risk management strategies.
  • Partner with business and IS stakeholders to translate business needs into clear requirements and delivery plans, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and cloud standards.
  • Working with IS Digital Transformation Enablement members, Integrate change management, communication, training, and adoption planning activities into all digital and cloud project plans.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate technical, organizational, and adoption risks, escalating issues as appropriate to the Director, PMO.
  • Apply PMO standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure consistent and effective delivery of cloud and digital initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, developing and maintaining project dashboards, reporting metrics such as KPIs, and communicating project status updates to appropriate stakeholders while managing expectations and addressing concerns.
  • Work with PMO, IS, and departmental staff to identify, document, and adhere to project requirements, financial management, and delivery, while engaging in resource capacity planning and allocation.
  • Collaborate with resource managers to ensure the availability and allocation of necessary project resources, monitoring and optimizing resource utilization and capacity management for maximum efficiency, particularly for projects within the digital transformation portfolio.
  • Coordinate project planning and execution with vendors, system integrators, and cloud service providers to support successful project outcomes.
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects within the digital transformation and IS Department simultaneously.
  • Advance the maturity of the PMO by continuously improving project management effectiveness, PMO services, and methodology.
  • Support the creation and editing of templates, guidelines, and procedures, ensuring project documentation is accurate and complete in accordance with PMO guidelines; ensure compliance across departments.
  • Continuously assess and enhance project management processes, methodologies, and tools within the PMO.
  • Facilitate PMO communication and knowledge transfer, especially to the PMO Director, project managers, and IS staff.
  • Mentor and guide junior project managers, fostering their professional growth and development while building a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Assist the PMO Director in identifying, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding candidates for new or open Project Manager and other PMO roles.
  • Coordinate the efforts of project team members, ACGME staff, and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring PMO standards are met, invoicing is appropriate, and ultimate project success is achieved.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of PMO processes, tools, and delivery practices, particularly related to cloud and agile delivery models.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to project managers or team members as assigned.
  • Perform additional PMO-related responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
