The Senior Project Manager organizes and controls project materials, schedules, and costs. This role acts as a liaison between internal clients and external contractors from the point of client conception through project completion. The Senior Project Manager may provide technical expertise in a professional field such as architecture, electrical or mechanical engineering, or construction management. Responsibilities include providing visual inspection and quality control by monitoring construction progress, ensuring compliance with intended results, codes, regulations, and requested standards. The role also involves reviewing materials and methods, addressing questions, conflicts, and changes, managing client issues related to construction decisions and preferences, and researching technical options to propose solutions. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager records any relevant or outstanding issues in project and/or technical specialty databases/reports and provides maintenance support and/or technical advice to other departments and schools throughout the University system. At an intermediate level, the Senior Project Manager determines the responsibilities and specifications for projects by identifying project phases and elements, studying client requirements, assigning personnel, reviewing contractor bids, and preparing cost estimates.
