Summary of Position Functions The Senior Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of projects, from the RFP/RFQ process through to completion. This role will collaborate with a diverse team of Site Superintendents, Architects, Engineers, Owners, and Subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards. This role involves overseeing daily onsite operations, managing project budgets, and providing regular progress reports to the Regional Operations Manager ROM). Additionally, the Senior PM ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with company standards, while also mentoring project managers and supporting company growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university or four to ten plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with the K-12 education market required.
  • HVAC experience required.
  • Division of the State Architecture (DSA) projects experience required.
  • Knowledge of Veregy’s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Computer software proficiency including Microsoft Project, Viewpoint, RS Means, Trimble Estimating and / or other job-related hardware and software applications that may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of multiple HVAC construction projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Oversee project teams including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field staff while aligning estimating, operations, and field execution.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects representing approximately $10M–$25M+ in annual revenue with full responsibility for profitability, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Review and approve project financials including budgets, billing, job cost reports, forecasts, change orders, and risk exposure.
  • Serve as the primary company representative with general contractors, managing subcontract agreements, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and coordination with other trades.
  • Lead direct-to-owner projects by coordinating with architects, engineers, and facility representatives while providing scheduling, planning, and communication typically handled by a general contractor.
  • Manage projects in occupied K-12 school environments, coordinating work around school calendars, phased construction schedules, and summer shutdowns while maintaining safety and minimal disruption.
  • Develop project schedules, oversee procurement of major equipment and materials, and lead coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Identify scope changes early and manage pricing, negotiation, and approval of change orders while ensuring contract compliance and protecting company interests.
  • Build strong client relationships and mentor Project Managers and Project Engineers while ensuring successful commissioning, punch list completion, documentation, and warranty turnover.
