About The Position

The Senior Project Manager I - Federal position provides overall project management responsibilities assuring the successful delivery of complex guaranteed energy savings infrastructure projects and Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) meeting financial, schedule, and performance targets as well as delivering high customer satisfaction government Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting (CPAR) ratings.  The Senior Project Manager will perform project risk assessments, ensure safety standards are being met, provide job cost reporting and forecasting, and assure that all government operational policies and procedures are being followed.   The Senior Project Manager may direct activities of Assistant Project Managers, Site Superintendents and Site Quality Managers assigned to their projects as well as work closely with site safety managers that are assigned to their projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in engineering, construction management, or equivalent education, or related field; or ten plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing multi-million-dollar, complex MEP facility upgrade projects required.
  • Experience with project financials and schedules required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required.
  • Knowledge of Veregy’s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Knowledge of budget setup, management, and tracking.
  • Ability to maintain a proactive approach in problem solving and issue management.
  • Ability to lead successful projects.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and lead Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing Federal government projects is preferred.
  • Direct experience managing large Federal Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) projects is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads project communication with the customer managing overall project schedule, RFI list, project status reporting, and official reporting activities.
  • Visits job sites depending on customer expectations, this may require daily attendance on certain projects.
  • Develops Job Cost Reports to ensure accurate job costing and forecasting.
  • Reviews Job Cost Reports with Veregy’s Operation Management.
  • Assists in the project development of projects assigned to them by reviewing bid packages, walking sub-contracts, reviewing and approving project estimates and will be responsible for planning the project execution plan, logistics, and proposed construction schedule.
  • Works with Veregy’s safety team members to ensure the project is following all government safety requirements and providing proper safety documentation.
  • Works closely with quality manager and measurement and verification engineering team to assure each project Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) is delivering on its quality parameters and expected energy savings performance.
  • Provides a monthly project report to Veregy’s operation management for each project assigned.
  • Attends at a minimum one project coordination meeting a month for each project for both the subcontractors and client meetings.
  • Supports the Federal Team in development of Assistant Project Managers, Site Superintendents, Quality Managers and by providing mentoring and coaching in addition to providing direction while working on a project and contributing to their performance evaluation.
