About The Position

At Hitachi Energy, the Senior Project Manager – Grid Integration, based in Raleigh, NC, plays a critical role in delivering complex, high-voltage substation and grid integration projects that enable the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. This role involves working within a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment alongside engineering, procurement, and construction teams to bring large-scale turnkey projects to life. The work directly supports communities, utilities, and industries across North America, focusing on renewable integration, digital substations, and strengthening grid reliability. This newly created position offers the opportunity to lead high-value EPC projects from early planning through execution, commissioning, and phased energization, managing challenging, fast-paced programs with overlapping scopes, multiple subcontractors, and diverse stakeholders, while contributing to continuous improvement and project excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management
  • Experience leading large‑scale EPC projects, preferably in grid, power, or heavy industrial sectors
  • Proven execution experience with Tier‑1 EPC contractors or owner‑engineers
  • Strong capability in schedule control, cost management, and stakeholder alignment
  • Work authorization to be employed in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end planning, scheduling, and execution of grid integration and substation projects
  • Define project scope, milestones, and deliverables aligned with customer expectations
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and overall financial performance
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and energization activities
  • Monitor project performance using earned value management tools
  • Support contract negotiations, change management, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
  • Communicate clear, timely project status updates to customers and stakeholders
