The ideal candidate will support the continued development of a wide array of geotechnical and geostructural engineering services, including investigation, repair, and rehabilitation of a variety of deteriorated or underperforming structures, as well as new design of constructed works. The Senior Project Manager will: Serve as a technical and project leader for geotechnical/geostructural engineering consulting. Manage and direct projects, working with Principals and teams of engineers and scientists. Supervise and lead teams of engineers, working directly with clients. Be eligible for SGH Share Ownership, with access to management-level bonus pool. Be located in Waltham, MA.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience and expertise in relevant field.
  • Professional Licensure required.
  • MS or PhD with a concentration in Geotechnical or GeoStructural Engineering.
  • Excellent written, oral and verbal communication skills and ability to clearly convey information.
  • Ability to solve minor or complex problems using data, logic, and judgement.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
  • Team-oriented ability to work successfully with others toward a shared goal.
  • Accountability and responsibility, willingness to take initiative to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Enthusiasm, passion, and desire for continued learning of new ideas and concepts.
  • Willingness to travel to out-of-state project sites on occasion and ability to travel to remote job sites not accessible by public transportation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ethical standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.

Nice To Haves

  • Affiliation with industry organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers' GeoInstitute, Deep Foundations Institute, or other active geotechnical organization.
  • Expertise in geotechnical computer analysis software (e.g., GEOSLOPE Suite, Slide, Plaxis, LPILEplus, CIVILTech Shoring, DeepEX, Settle3D, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Representing SGH as primary contact for complex design, investigation, and analysis projects.
  • Leading and directing engineering investigations, analyses, and design associated with structures such as deep and shallow foundations, ground improvement systems, earth retaining structures, excavation support systems, soil settlement, slope stability, soil dynamics and earthquake engineering, groundwater flow and seepage, earthen embankments/dams/reservoirs, tunnels, and asphalt and concrete pavements.
  • Preparing reports, drawings, project specifications, and presentations to clearly and logically provide well-founded direction, interpretations, and conclusions to clients.
  • Preparing scope, schedules, and budgets for proposals.
  • Analyzing research and investigation data to develop interpretations and conclusions.
  • Providing expert testimony as required.
  • Serving as client contact for existing and referred clients.
  • Serving as a technical leader and project manager for geotechnical and geostructural engineering assignments.
  • Staying abreast of new scientific methods and developments affecting their technical specialty.
  • Actively participating in industry organizations and developing industry recognition as an expert.
