About The Position

The Senior Project Manager – Energy is responsible for leading all aspects of renewable energy construction projects from kickoff through closeout, including safety, financial performance, contract administration, schedule, quality, and client relations. This role supports the planning, execution, and onsite management of utility-scale energy projects, including solar and related infrastructure. This is a fully traveling, field-based position requiring continuous assignment to project sites and mobility between projects based on business needs. The Senior Project Manager provides leadership to project teams, ensures alignment across stakeholders, and drives successful project delivery in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. Requirements

  • Strong experience in renewable energy project execution, including utility-scale solar projects.
  • Proven ability to manage complex construction projects from start to finish.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Solid understanding of project financials, cost control, and reporting.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades effectively.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to identify issues, evaluate risks, and implement effective solutions.
  • Working knowledge of contracts, change management, and construction law fundamentals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, labor agreements, and trade jurisdictions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8–12 years of progressive construction experience, with demonstrated success managing large-scale energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects
  • Pre-employment and annual drug testing required; background check, including driving record, as required by client.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

  • Exposure to energy, industrial, power, or utility projects is a plus.
  • OSHA, First Aid/CPR, or other safety-related credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Execution Lead all phases of construction from project kickoff through commissioning and closeout.
  • Manage day-to-day client and Architect/Engineer communications and relationships.
  • Oversee project execution including safety, quality, schedule, logistics, and coordination.
  • Develop and implement project work plans, phasing strategies, and site logistics.
  • Lead problem-solving and dispute resolution efforts to maintain project progress.
  • Contract Administration & Documentation Administer contracts between owner, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Oversee project documentation including contracts, correspondence, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely distribution of project information to all stakeholders.
  • Maintain field order logs and change management documentation.
  • Support compliance with contract requirements, including certified payroll and reporting.
  • Schedule & Planning Management Develop, maintain, and update baseline project schedules and phasing plans.
  • Monitor subcontractor schedules and enforce alignment with project milestones.
  • Develop and implement recovery schedules when required.
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents to track progress and production.
  • Financial & Cost Management Manage all financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Monitor project cost performance and maintain cost control records.
  • Partner with Accounting and leadership to track project margins and financial performance.
  • Manage change orders, contract modifications, and cost impacts.
  • Support monthly invoicing, cost reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Oversee labor reporting and compliance with contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Subcontractor & Team Coordination Lead coordination of subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Assist in development of scopes of work and support preconstruction efforts.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Project Engineers and support staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable project team environment.
  • Quality & Safety Leadership Establish and implement project-specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs with field leadership.
  • Partner with Safety to develop and enforce site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, regulatory, and company safety requirements.
  • Reporting & Project Controls Lead internal and external project meetings and document meeting minutes.
  • Review weekly progress reports and produce monthly client reports as required.
  • Track project performance, risks, and key milestones.
  • Support commissioning activities and project closeout processes, including documentation and turnover.
  • Sustainability & Closeout Support LEED or sustainability requirements where applicable.
  • Lead project closeout activities including documentation, punch list completion, and turnover.
  • Participate in commissioning planning and execution.
  • Mobility & Deployment Travel full-time to project sites across the United States.
  • Transition between project assignments based on project needs and schedules.
  • Maintain flexibility to support varying project durations, locations, and site conditions.
