And our Corporate Real Estate team is on the front lines of procuring, designing and developing spaces at all our hubs, stations and city locations across the world. From airport affairs and business services to planning and development, this team is responsible for all our leases and major construction and renovation projects, system wide. Job overview and responsibilities The Senior Project Manager in Corporate Real Estate Planning and Development will oversee a portfolio of projects that range from small to large scale facility projects at hubs and line station locations, and small and large scale construction Programs from inception to completion in accordance with corporate policies and standards and governing regulations and requirements. In addition, this position will also oversee the design development of United's involvement of a multi-year, multi-Billion-dollar airport led development program. The position will manage at least one junior Project Manager, and manage a total portfolio anticipated to be up to 30-40 small projects ($100K – 2M) or large programs exceeding $100M. The leader in this role will be required to show a high aptitude for collaborating and coordinating with airport authorities, to ascertain, understand and collaborate with the airport staff on facilities or other airport infrastructure projects, and to ensure that the airline's interests are accounted for and addressed. The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of successful projects by combining strategic thinking, business acumen and technical experience. In addition, this position will developing creative alternatives and supportive project justifications through stakeholder engagement, communication and option development. The Sr. Manager will manage vendored staff support overseeing project construction and administration, and will meet project metrics within approved business case cost and scope.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
9+ years Planning, Design (Eng or Arch) and/or Construction Experience; Experience managing project tasks
Knowledge of design and construction management process and vernacular, understanding of best practices of Project Management
Background in construction safety, capital improvement planning for facilities, Facility Management, Aviation Master Planning
Demonstrated high ability to lead collaboration and manage communication at executive levels within the organization
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Engineering or Construction Management and / or MBA
PMP, LEED, Black Belt, PE, RA, CM
5+ years Project Management Experience
2+ years experience in Aviation
Knowledge of FAA, ICAO, IATA standards, guidelines and requirements that relate to planning and design of airport infrastructure and facilities

Responsibilities

Portfolio Planning, Development and Management: Establish and maintain strong business relationships with airport leaders and United Internal Customers
Develop project strategy and approach during planning phases and develop multiple alternatives to achieve Project Objectives
Responsible for the delivery and portfolio management of scope, cost and schedules for all projects within their assigned projects (including team)
Project Delivery: Manages self (and team) to plan, design and execute airport and commercial property facility and infrastructure construction projects
Manages the programming, planning, design, construction, schedule and budget related issues that pose challenges to the success of the project by drawing on knowledge of the the planning, design, construction process knowledge and experience
Accountable for the compliance with budget, schedule and scope of the projects
Responsible for governance (UA and CRE), artifacts, and guidelines of project portfolio
Responsible for the utilization of any process and standards
Responsible for the use of Project Database, PM Artifacts, workflows, forms, Project Management Guidelines etc by self (and team)
Uses (and coaches team in) CRE Project tools such as Sharepoint, Microsoft Project, Oracle and others as defined by need
Ensures that projects meet defined metrics
Responsible and accountable for transparent, accurate, consistent project reporting (weekly, monthly and quarterly) of portfolio of projects
Leadership: Establishes individual goals that align with departmental goals
Responsible in developing individual career development and training plans with leader
Use technical knowledge experience to provide thoughtful decision making and guidance in strategic implementation of United’s approved projects
