About The Position

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Manager with experience in delivering terminal projects, specifically in aviation to work on-site in Norfolk, VA. This position will support various aviation-related projects, including terminal expansion, building facilities and airfield pavement improvements. The expected duration for these positions will depend on project assignments and should span from early 2026 through 2029.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/project management, building construction or related field
  • 8 years of relevant experience in project/program management
  • Experience working on large airport projects or equivalent infrastructure programs
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Identification Display Area badge

  • Professional designation in a relevant field is a plus
  • Professional experience in airport projects or equivalent-scale infrastructure programs with a focus on delivering projects and an assortment of minor works.
  • Typically possesses a minimum of 15 years of experience in project and/or program management.
  • Proven expertise in project management and/or relevant technical disciplines for the successful delivery of complex initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams to deliver complex projects and programs.
  • Strong technical proficiency across all project phases, including design, planning, construction, operations, and maintenance—ideally within large-scale programs or projects.
  • Ability to supervise and inspect work of contractors on engineering projects in the field or office for adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships and deliver effective reporting to support informed decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings and facilitate workshops with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant computer software to include AutoCAD and Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the assigned projects in line with scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk requirements.
  • Bring specialist expertise in project management to support program objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Team and Construction Managers to assist the Program Lead.
  • Support the Program Lead in managing contractor performance and escalating critical decisions when required.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate consultations and secure necessary approvals.
  • Assist in the administration of the federal and state grant application process through construction and final closeout to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements. Responsibilities are performed at the guidance of the Authority.
  • Coordinate with contractors to obtain required permits, consents, and approvals, and to manage site logistics.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring alignment with defined scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and risk parameters.
  • Ensure effective implementation of change control procedures and escalate key decisions as appropriate.
  • Partner with the broader program team to coordinate reviews, inspections, and approvals across design, health and safety, quality, environmental, and security domains.
  • Contribute to procurement planning and supports contract management in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Ability to develop familiarity with FAA advisory circulars; and federal, state, and local environmental regulations
