The Senior Project Engineer will assume a broad scope of technical and project management responsibilities including design and analysis, program planning and management, customer communication, and ongoing product support. Use engineering background in shock and vibration to support current business and develop additional business for Hutchinson in assigned market segment.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge/experience with 3D modeling (Creo) and FEA.
  • Experience/education in shock and vibration courses.
  • Proven organizational, communication, leadership, and influence skills.
  • Experience designing component solutions for shock, vibration, and noise.
  • Experience with OEM engineers in related markets and Defense/Aerospace applications.
  • Experience in design of molded products and processes for manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, Modal Analysis, etc.
  • Strong project planning and management skills.
  • Experience with problem-solving techniques such as Fish Bone (6M), 5-Why, 8D.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret scientific and technical journals.
  • Must be a US Citizen based on ITAR & NOFORN requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Defense or Railroad Industry.
  • FMEA experience.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of elastomer and metallic components to solve customer problems related to shock, vibration, and noise.
  • Lead various cross-functional teams through the New Product Development phase gate process.
  • Manage multiple projects and maintain project schedules.
  • Conduct customer communication including calls, visits, and technical presentations.
  • Provide ongoing product support and cooperate with operations groups.
  • Review and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Involvement in continual improvement teams and cost reduction efforts.
