About The Position

ESP Associates is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Huntersville, NC.  This in-office technical professional will enhance our design and consulting responsibilities within a collaborative, team atmosphere.   The successful candidate will have experience in civil engineering for land development projects, including grading, infrastructure design (roads and utilities), stormwater treatment design, and state and municipal permitting. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or engineering technology
  • 6+ years of qualifying civil engineering design and project management experience.
  • PE License (North Carolina preferred)
  • Advanced design skills in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil3D (2018 or most recent version)
  • Advanced design skills in software programs such as Hydraflow Hydragraphs, Hydraflow Storm Sewers, HydroCAD, and WaterCAD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong desire to continue learning and advance professionally.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in a team environment through civil site/land development design, permitting, and construction observation in a variety of residential, commercial, institutional, and municipal projects.
  • Serve as technical lead (consulting with the Project Manager) on land development projects for Clients, review agencies, contractors, and internal planning, surveying, and geotechnical departments.
  • Collaborate with Landscape Architects and Planners to develop quality site solutions that promote character and sustainability of the development.
  • Develop strong relationships with team members.
  • Design and prepare plans for land development projects using Autodesk AutoCAD Civil3D software.
  • Perform and prepare technical design calculations associated with land development projects (i.e., storm drainage hydraulic sizing and system modeling, water distribution modeling, storm water control measures (SCMs), sanitary sewer collection systems, sanitary sewer pump stations and force main, erosion control measures, etc.).
  • Provide training/mentoring for junior members of the team.
  • Perform technical review of drawings, specifications, calculations, shop drawings, and other engineering documents for conformance with project goals and requirements.
  • Perform preliminary engineering evaluations, including quantity take-offs and opinions of probable construction cost.
  • Assist management with project and staff schedules.
  • Perform site visits and prepare associated field reports.
  • Observe and provide general coordination for various field-testing obligations, i.e., water pressure testing, gravity sewer low pressure testing, manhole vacuum testing, etc.
  • Develop strong relationships with team members.
