The Senior Project Engineer plays a key role in driving project execution, supporting both the Project Manager and Superintendent while taking ownership of critical components of the work. This role goes beyond coordination, actively managing processes like submittals, scheduling, change management, and project administration to keep projects moving forward. A Senior Project Engineer serves as a bridge between the field and project leadership, helping ensure alignment across teams, resolving issues proactively, and contributing to the overall success of the project. This is a strong opportunity for someone ready to operate with greater independence and take on increased responsibility.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of construction experience (industrial electrical preferred)
- Experience working for an electrical contractor strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management (experience may substitute)
- Takes ownership and follows through without needing to be asked
- Strong decision-making skills with sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Clear, confident communicator who can work effectively across teams
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust with field and office partners
- Dependable, professional, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong understanding of construction processes, documentation, and project flow
- Ability to read, interpret, and review drawings and specifications
- Comfortable working in project management software and technical platforms
- Experience supporting scheduling, cost tracking, and change management processes
Responsibilities
- Take an active role in driving project execution from start-up through closeout, supporting both field and office operations
- Lead and manage the submittal process to keep projects moving and aligned with schedule
- Own portions of project scheduling, regularly updating timelines and proactively identifying risks or delays
- Support and contribute to change management efforts, including estimating, validating, and negotiating change orders
- Coordinate procurement activities to ensure materials and equipment are aligned with project needs and timelines
- Assist in managing contracts, payment applications, and invoices with a strong attention to detail
- Participate in and help lead project meetings, providing clear updates and driving accountability across the team
- Review designs, drawings, and specifications for accuracy, constructability, and compliance
- Partner closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to solve problems and keep work progressing efficiently
- Take ownership of project administration and reporting, including interim and closeout documentation
- Champion jobsite safety through consistent actions and awareness
