About The Position

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to an entirely new engineering capability in a resourced and dynamic UK based company seeking to develop new and groundbreaking IPR. The Senior Project Engineer will support the execution of complex manufacturing projects from planning through to certification. The role involves close collaboration with internal Technical, Production, Quality, and Operations teams, as well as coordination with external suppliers and testing partners. A strong focus is placed on engineering documentation, certification compliance, and delivery against tight timelines in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be enthusiastic and inquisitive, keeping up to date with the latest trends and advancements in manufacturing and mechanical engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in engineering project management in a design and manufacturing environment. Qualification in project management advantageous i.e. PRINCE 2 or PMP
  • Thorough and procedure-driven approach to tasks, with strong determination to meet programme requirements and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and certification processes is desirable.
  • Proficiency in CAD software advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Engineering Manager and Technical Director to lead on the execution activities for complex manufacturing projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules and certification requirements.
  • Responsible for plan creation, monitoring and reporting for development and supply of WAAM and hybrid parts.
  • Collaborate with Technical, Production, Quality, and Operations teams to execute on Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing and fabrication deliverables.
  • Coordinate with external partners, suppliers, and subcontractors to support post-processing activities including heat treatment, non-destructive testing, and destructive testing, including drafting specifications to recognised standards where required.
  • Responsible for the development and maintaining engineering documentation such as specifications, manufacturing build reports, inspection certificates, technical investigations, and CAD models for destructive testing.
  • Foster a collaborative and cross-functional team environment, promoting effective communication, knowledge sharing, and problem-solving.
