About The Position

The Senior Operations Engineer (Marine) may supervise several project personnel to achieve the project and tender objectives. They will coordinate with the marine team, vessel management teams, planners, procurement and other parts of the organization and report directly to the Construction Manager. The Senior Operations Engineer (Marine) applies in-depth knowledge, experience, and best practices in the Marine Operations discipline to support project offshore construction assignments. They are responsible for solving complex field problems and work independently with minimal guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Ocean, or Subsea Engineering (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of subsea installation engineering experience
  • AutoCAD proficiency is required
  • Offshore safety certifications such as BOSIET/FOET and OGUK medical
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and major oil and gas operators
  • Proven hands-on experience supporting air diving operations
  • Demonstrated involvement in shallow water pipelay projects
  • Practical exposure to HDD operations and pipeline pullback interfaces
  • Solid understanding of pre-commissioning philosophies
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for preparation and review of installation drawings and field sketches
  • Understanding of marine operations, vessel capabilities, and weather limitations
  • Strong awareness of offshore HSE requirements and safe systems of work
  • Previous offshore rotation experience as project engineer
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Team-oriented with strong coordination skills
  • Willingness to travel and support offshore rotations

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for offshore subsea installation campaigns including pipelay, tie-ins, crossings, spools, structures and pre-commissioning activities
  • Develop, review, and implement installation procedures, method statements and task plans
  • Develop (or supervise and review those provided by others) mobilization and readiness plans for the transportation of materials/structures to the offshore that facilitate safe and timely installation
  • Coordinate and review inputs from the various Engineering disciplines, functional departments, and sub-contractors contributing to the marine installation portion of a project
  • Provide support to projects and tenders with the identification and quantification of costs for offshore work. This may include vessel preparatory activities, port clearances, third party subcontractor or vessels, and project tools, equipment, or consumables.
  • Coordinate necessary construction support engineering and preparation of technical drawings for bid projects and/or tender submittals
  • Determine the sequence of work to be performed with input from key stakeholders including Vessel Operations Manager(s), and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Determine the equipment to perform the work based on availability, tender requirements, and in support of the pre-defined bid strategy
  • Review the Project Plan along with the project planner and prepare subcontract scope packages for any work that is required to be subcontracted
  • Lead Project Readiness reviews as needed
  • Manage and/or provide oversight of discrete subcontract scopes of work including tracking and managing of costs and supporting forecasting of future expenditures. This may include ROV, Survey, Pre-Commissioning, NDE, third party vessels, or other services.
  • Prepare and update installation drawings, sketches and as-built markups using AutoCAD
  • Develop lift plans, rigging arrangements and installation details
  • Interface with survey, ROV, QA/QC and marine teams to ensure smooth execution
  • Participate in offshore campaigns as required to provide on-site engineering and troubleshooting support
  • Assist in preparation of risk assessments, MOCs, technical queries and project reporting
  • Actively participate and/or lead project Job Safety Analysis, if applicable, and communicate and implement requisite control measures. Coordinate changes in the technical details or drawings where these may result in safer and better installation procedures.
  • Contribute to lessons learned, close-out documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
