Moog is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to join our Military Global Sustainment (MGS) Test Equipment Engineering team. Reporting into the Senior Staff Project Engineer, this role is based at our East Aurora facility. In this role you will be responsible for the management of projects for the provision of Test Equipment supporting Depot-Level Test Capability and Production Acceptance Testing for Military Aircraft Flight Control Systems. The position emphasizes leadership in project execution, stakeholder collaboration, and vendor management. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery of Test Equipment to support the aftermarket business. This is a high-responsibility, technically complex role ideal for a seasoned engineer with strong leadership, vendor management, and project execution skills. It offers a blend of technical depth, strategic oversight, and international collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems,).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical project management within a relevant engineering sector (Aerospace, Automotive, Test Equipment).
  • Experience in sub-contract management for the procurement of Test Equipment within a relevant engineering sector.
  • Experience in Requirements Management and Verification and Validation Methods.
  • Experience leading cross functional technical teams
  • Experience managing cost, schedule and scope for technical projects
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) fundamentals
  • Test Experience with hydraulic, electric and mechanical aerospace actuation systems.
  • Must be able to obtain US/UK Security Clearance as applicable.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented with strong time management skills.
  • Capable of independent decision-making with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with project goals.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with customers, vendors, cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Approximately 25% domestic and international travel to customer sites, vendor locations, and other Moog facilities.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain US Security Clearance. As such, the incumbent must hold sole US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Test Equipment projects (capital budgets: $5M-$50M, timelines: 18-48 months).
  • Manage one major project as the dedicated lead and up to five minor projects concurrently, ensuring alignment with customer and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee project schedules, resource allocation, and financial forecasting, delivering regular status reports to senior management.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination with internal teams and external vendors to deliver complex Test Equipment, adhering to established processes.
  • Collaborate with US Domestic and International military customers to define requirements and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop accurate and detailed Test Equipment Requirement Specifications and Statements of Work to support Requests for Quotation (RFQs) from external vendors.
  • Manage subcontract procurement for Test Equipment, ensuring vendor performance aligns with project goals and contractual obligations.
  • Act as Contractor Coordinator, managing vendor relationships and overseeing subcontractor activities at Moog or customer sites.
  • Perform vendor audits and technical evaluations.
  • Create and present comprehensive Test Equipment proposals, including resource-loaded schedules, to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Generate, update, and formally release Test Equipment documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate timely resolution of Corrective Actions, Significant Issues, and Non-Conformances related to Test Equipment.
  • Support root cause analysis for system or component issues.
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety practices, contributing to risk assessments and compliance during project activities.
  • Support internal and external quality audits of deployed Test Equipment.
