About The Position

The position involves responsibility for the construction and project controls functions on heavy civil, marine, and/or movable bridges. The role requires providing technical support around quality control, blueprint and contract compliance, scheduling, documentation, and engineering means and methods on-site. The individual will assist in proper project planning, value-added engineering means and methods, developing work packages, preparing production indicators/benchmarks, and developing the master schedule. Coordination of construction activities on a project, including estimating, start-up, costing, scheduling, and demobilization, is also a key responsibility. Ongoing client contact is necessary to assess the progression of work and resources required to successfully complete the project. The role includes interpreting design/drawings for team members, researching and resolving drawing interpretation problems, verifying compliance with applicable codes, and maintaining the project schedule and budget. Additionally, the individual will identify, document, and estimate costs of extra work activities and assist the Project Manager in other responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Four-year civil engineering or construction management degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience in civil marine / movable bridges a plus.
  • Minimum of six years of heavy infrastructure construction project management in the field.
  • Knowledge of estimating, schedules, budget, cost controls, financial reporting, and safety required.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling, and databases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support around quality control, blueprint and contract compliance, scheduling, documentation, and engineering means and methods on-site.

  • Provide ongoing client contact to assess the progression of work and resources required to successfully complete project.
  • Interpret design/drawings for team members installing material.
  • Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors.
  • Verify that all completed work complies with applicable codes, and drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain the project schedule and budget to aid project leadership in knowing where they are and making decisions for how to achieve project goals, with input from others.
  • Identify, document, and estimate costs of extra work activities, which were not anticipated in original scope and provide proper notification and financial reporting of change orders.
  • Assist Project Manager in other responsibilities, as required.
