Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in land use permitting, with a focus on renewable energy projects in Minnesota.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting processes.
  • Experience managing permitting and environmental consultants and engaging with local and state officials.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with local communities and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and self-driven, with a proactive approach to managing project pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with internal and external teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize and present information clearly.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to identify and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage site development, permitting, and entitlements for a portfolio of distribution-interconnected solar projects across several Midwest states, focusing on Minnesota.
  • Conduct site analysis, manage data gathering efforts, and support preliminary design and engineering processes required for project entitlements.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal permitting requirements, focusing on Pennsylvania’s environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage permitting processes, including budget tracking, schedule management, and identification of key project risk factors.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to achieve permitting and development milestones.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external consultants and lawyers to ensure project success.
  • Support community engagement efforts, including hosting educational events and collaborating with local officials.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and milestone tracking; prepare regular progress reports and present updates to internal and external teams.
