About The Position

Gilbane is seeking a Senior Project Controls Specialist that is capable of fulfilling the cost and schedule requirements of multiple mid-sized projects or a singular large project, including day-to-day interface with project management, client and contractor personnel, while overseeing and developing junior level project controls staff. Requirements

  • BS or AA in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, Architecture or related field
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience with increasing responsibility
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Develop, implement and train on standard and project specific cost control procedures in accordance with the Division and/or Business Unit procedures
  • Identify and communicate key cost issues to project/construction and operations management in a timely manner to allow corrective action to be implemented
  • Tutor and guide project controls staff in project controls fundamentals, procedures and guidelines
  • Deploy and modify project control systems as appropriate to support project specific execution requirements
  • Implement / effectively use / train on company-standard and industry- standard project controls tools and systems to include Primavera Products, MS Project, Deltek Acumen Fuse, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor cost control systems that accurately measure progress, performance, and forecast expenditures.
  • Provide timely feedback to project and business unit management.
  • Supervise the development, approval, and issuance of client and internal status reports that effectively communicate schedule status and identify critical path.
  • Motivate the project team to define corrective actions for implementation.
  • Apply practical field experience with planning/scheduling knowledge to identify challenges to the project schedule and suggest mitigation plans.
  • Be familiar with the development and application of Gilbane indirect and overhead rates to cost.
  • Provide consistency between the project estimate, work breakdown structure, and project schedule.
  • Estimate cost and cumulative impact of proposed design or construction changes.
  • Support procurement by contributing to cost analysis for subcontractor pricing to determine whether pricing is fair-and- reasonable.
  • Understand the risk register.
  • Analyze risk to evaluate and forecast contingency requirements for management estimate reviews.
  • Maintain and trend historical cost data from actual hours, costs, and pricing.
  • Apply practical field experience and constructability expertise to the development of estimate at completes and schedules when minimal information are available.
  • Mentor more junior level staff on proper change control and time impact analysis procedures.
  • Support the project team with change identification, documentation, schedule fragnets, and costing.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members.
  • Supports a positive and inclusive work environment.
