About The Position

The Senior Project Accountant at Gilbane is a mid-level professional responsible for managing project accounting and forecasting for multiple mid-sized projects or a singular large project. This role involves daily interactions with project management, clients, and contractors, while also overseeing and developing junior accounting staff. The position primarily operates from the office but may require travel to project job sites for meetings.

Requirements

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 8-10 years of experience with a Construction Management (CM) or General Contractor organization working on larger complex construction projects and/or joint ventures, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Proficient in CMiC software.
• Understanding of the overall project execution process, including budgeting, project forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost, and project profitability.

Responsibilities

• Manage contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, files, and company policies.
• Produce timely and accurate requisitions and lien waivers.
• Format and set up project forecasts to meet both internal and client reporting needs.
• Manage monthly project forecast meetings and maintain accurate estimates to complete (ETC) for labor and expenses.
• Ensure timely management of accounts receivable and payables.
• Manage the project financial closeout process.
• Develop and maintain positive professional relationships both internally and externally.
• Review and understand cost proposals.
• Understand and manage various contract types and delivery methods.
• Train and mentor junior accountants.
• Assist the Accounting Manager or Controller with the monthly Work In Progress (WIP) process.
• Act as an independent accountant during project forecast meetings to mitigate financial risk.
