About The Position

The Senior Project Accountant at Gilbane Building Company is a mid-level professional role responsible for managing project accounting and forecasting for multiple mid-sized projects or a singular large project. This position involves daily interactions with project management, clients, and contractors, while also overseeing and developing junior accounting staff. The role primarily operates from the office but may require travel to project job sites for meetings.

Requirements

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
• 8-10 years with CM or General Contractor organization working on larger complex construction projects and/or joint ventures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Proficient in CMiC
• Understanding of the overall project execution process, including budgeting, project forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost and project profitability

Responsibilities

• Manage contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, Files, and Co Policies
• Produce timely and accurate requisitions and lien waivers
• Format and set-up project forecast to meet both internal and client reporting needs
• Manage monthly project forecast meetings and maintain accurate ETC for labor and expense
• Ensure timely management of accounts receivable and payables
• Manage the project financial closeout
• Develop and maintain positive professional relationships both internally & externally
• Review and understand cost proposals
• Understand and manage various contract types and delivery methods
• Train and mentor Accountants
• Assist the Accounting Manager or Controller with monthly WIP process
• Act as independent accountant during project forecast meetings to mitigate financial risk
