Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in engineering, mathematics, or science
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in U.S. Government (USG) development and/or operational program/project management experience, preferably in a large, global organization
  • 5+ years' experience in management of complex technical projects, preferably on Department of Defense (DoD) and/or Intelligence Community (IC) satellite or satellite ground programs
  • Experience managing cross-functional issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
  • The ability to foster cross-functional team building to deliver complex projects/individual goals
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
  • Can easily build meaningful relationships with others, including senior leadership outside of your own department, and is comfortable providing constructive feedback to your team members and management
  • Be able to analyze a situation or problem, generate effective solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
  • Must possess the creativity and resourcefulness needed to make reliable decisions and determine methods on new assignments
  • Can thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks and managing shifting priorities
  • Be proactive in sharing knowledge you've learned with others

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to manage projects from concept through contract award, planning, execution, and final delivery, while proactively managing quality, budget, and overall project performance
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across a portfolio of services to ensure a mutually beneficial technology roadmap for both commercial and government programs
  • Coordinate with the engineering leads to identify efficiencies which would lead to increased capacity or sales
  • Incorporate stakeholder feedback to guide prioritization of project execution
  • Manage execution expectations for stakeholders based on engineering resource availability
  • Identify and rectify gaps in communication within the portfolio
  • Use breadth of knowledge to manage the project execution strategy including gates, milestones, deliverables, and acquisition strategy including make or buy decisions, subcontracting strategy, etc.
  • Lead internal and external teams to execute the full spectrum of the project
  • Develop solutions for project risks to minimize impact to the program
  • Participate in major milestone meetings with internal or external customers (ex. SRR, CDR, FAT) and senior officials to communicate status and/or implement Agile or Scaled Agile development practices
  • Confidently present on project status, on-going financial viability, and identification of key issues to senior management
  • Investigate customer changes and follow up on change related costs and supporting proposals for both government and technical scope of work deviations
