The Senior Program Manager for Data Analytics and Strategy is a professional position based in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s North Carolina Institute for Public Health ( NCIPH ) within the Community Assessment and Strategy ( CAS ) team. NCIPH focuses on bridging academics and public health practice through training, technical assistance, research, and practice-driven programs. The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating projects with community partners, including: designing research/technical assistance assessments, implementing evidence-based methods, analyzing and visualizing data, interpreting assessment results, and translating/disseminating assessment results through publication, reporting, and education of community partners. They will also have the opportunity to generate new projects aligned with NCIPH’s key priority areas based on available funding opportunities with internal and external partners. The individual will be expected to serve as a non-faculty principal investigator on some projects and as a project manager or associate on others. The Senior Program Manager will report to the director of NCIPH and serve as the team lead and supervisor for the Data Analytics and Strategy subteam. Supervisory duties will include training team members, guiding their work, and overseeing performance of permanent, temporary, and student members. As team lead, the Senior Program Manager will be responsible for meeting project deliverables, communicating with project partners, and implementing project workplans. The position is hybrid with at least one day a week onsite. This individual in this role is required to live in NC and reside within commuting distance of UNC campus. Occasional travel is required.

  • Demonstrate a deep commitment to health inequities as well as a passion for individual and collective learning
  • Proven ability to function independently, and be able to successfully manage relationships in a team-based project environment
  • Ability to serve as a supervisor and guide the work of a small group to success
  • Interest in pursuing and developing new projects and funding aligned with organizational goals
  • Excellent project management skills, be detail oriented, have a proven ability to work both independently and with a team, be able to manage budgets, be familiar with Microsoft Teams, Asana and meeting/facilitating via Zoom
  • Occasional travel is required
  • This individual in this role is required to live in NC and reside within commuting distance of UNC campus
  • Masters or doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or statistics with prior experience in a professional capacity for a state, local, or international public health agency or academic institution
  • Knowledge of North Carolina public health system a plus
  • A well-rounded candidate with additional skill sets (e.g. GIS , Python, Tableau, other visualization skills) that can contribute to projects would be an asset
