About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator of Integrated Academic Support Programs in the Learning Centers. Reporting directly to the Director of Integrated Academic Support Programs in the Learning Centers, the Senior Program Coordinator of Embedded Academic Support will play a pivotal role in supporting student success through the coordination of the Embedded Writing Assistant (EWA) Program and providing strategic support to the Learning Assistant (LA) Program. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Manages recruitment, training, scheduling, and assessment efforts for the EWA program, while also contributing to the operational and developmental needs of the LA program. Coordinates the Embedded Writing Assistant (EWA) Program, including recruitment, onboarding, hiring, scheduling, payroll, and ongoing support of student staff in collaboration with the Faculty Director of Writing Support and academic departments. Maintains and creates program documentation and resources - including manuals, schedules, training materials, and communication tools - to support smooth operations. Supports the Learning Assistant (LA) Program, assisting with recruitment, training, placement, hiring, onboarding, student worker supervision, and program development in partnership with program leadership and two senior program coordinators. Collaborates with the Faculty Director of Writing Support and the Assistant Director of Training and Professional Development in designing and leading training sessions for Embedded Writing Assistants, emphasizing writing pedagogy, inclusive practices, and collaborative learning strategies. Contributes to program assessment and planning, including collecting feedback, preparing reports, and participating in strategic initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree with a background in education or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in academic support in higher education, or two years of other relevant experience in program coordination.
  • Experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program coordination, facilitation, assessment, and report analysis.
  • Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in writing pedagogy.
  • Computer literacy with MS Office, specifically Excel; and familiarity with web and database management.
  • Strong background in writing pedagogy, program management, and collaborative engagement with faculty, students, and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Strongly prefer a master's degree in education or masters in a Humanities discipline with 2 years of experience in education/academic support.
  • Experience with website content management, Canvas LMS, and payroll software (e.g PeopleSoft) is preferred.
