The Team You’ll Work With: The Office of the First Deputy ensures that City government runs efficiently and focuses on many of the administration’s top priorities – from creating opportunities for young people to strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure – the office works in partnership with stakeholders inside and outside of city government to develop, scale, coordinate, and deliver policies, plans and operations in an equitable and sustainable way. The Strategic Coordination and Operations team operates within the First Deputy Mayor portfolio by working to advance an effective, coordinated whole-of-government approach to certain Mayoral priorities. The team supports agency partners through identifying and designing solutions to program challenges, conducting research and analysis to support innovative approaches in furtherance of Mayoral priorities, and developing policy, operational, and programmatic recommendations. Members of the team conduct research, provide project management, conduct data analysis and work alongside key city partners, including the Law Department, Office of Mass Engagement, and Intergovernmental Affairs team to deliver a multi-pronged strategy in support of city agencies and team members. The team is responsible for supporting the implementation of Executive Order 12 and managing the goals of identified savings in the budget process. Further, the team supports the First Deputy Mayor in managing the work of the Interagency Response Committee (IRC) as created by Executive Order 13. This work includes, but is not limited to, tracking federal actions that do or can impact the well-being of the city and New Yorkers. The team works collaboratively across agencies to respond to identified challenges and recommend solutions or strategies as needed. Requirements

  • You have excellent communication, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience.
  • Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?
  • Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?
  • Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?
  • Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?

Responsibilities

  • Developing systems to effectively track and coordinate with IRC committee lead agencies on key areas of impact (policy, operational, financial, among others).
  • Work with agencies to identify recommendations and solutions, including through additional research, drafting of proposals, and support in operational implementation as needed.
  • Implement strategies with agency leads to monitor data and identify and anticipate impacts.
  • Draft policy papers, presentations, or memos as needed.
  • Convene, manage, and facilitate committee meetings.
  • Responsible for supporting the implementation of Executive Order 13.
  • When necessary, help lead rapid response and crisis management, and support the IRC to organize and respond as required.
