About The Position

A Sr. Professional Licensed Surveyor at HBK Engineering is a position that provides subject matter expertise on survey field operations methods and procedures at the highest organizational level. This executive-level role involves overseeing multiple survey crews and multiple survey projects while coordinating with Sr. Field Staff Managers and Sr. Field Project Managers to develop new business and acquire new clients. The position requires Professional Land Surveyor licensure in multiple states and extensive experience, serving as a consultant to Sr. Field Managers, Division Managers, and Vice Presidents with masterful understanding of survey expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required, licensed in multiple states
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience as a Professional Land Surveyor
  • Valid driver's license (CDL not required)
  • Excellent people management skills for leading multiple survey crews and organizational teams
  • Professional communication skills for executive consultation, client interactions, and business development
  • Flexibility to work effectively in both office and field environments
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Total Station, and GPS equipment operations
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude with exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse teams, clients, executives, and stakeholders
  • Physical capability to move about on construction work sites, public streets, and parkways
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit, kneel, and squat on a daily basis with minimal frequency of kneeling and squatting
  • Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate surveying equipment and take measurements
  • Ability to perform outdoor standing and/or walking work every day.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on survey field operations methods and procedures at the executive level
  • Perform duties as surveyor responsibly in-charge of various surveys statewide, including geodetic/project control, mapping, and boundary surveys
  • Oversee multiple survey crews and multiple survey projects with comprehensive organizational responsibility
  • Coordinate with Sr. Field Staff Managers and Sr. Field Project Managers to develop new business and acquire new clients
  • Consult Sr. Field Managers, Division Managers, and Vice Presidents with masterful understanding of survey expertise
  • Provide comprehensive survey training and support for statewide field and office personnel
  • Develop and update training and procedure manuals for surveying operations across the organization
  • Develop standards and procedures for survey-related issues with organizational authority
  • Conduct research, needs evaluation, and write specifications for procurement of survey instruments
  • Develop and maintain liaison with project managers' offices, region offices, design sections, and others to provide training and instruction in field survey procedures
  • Research and develop new survey procedures for utilization of automated survey equipment
  • Keep abreast with advances in survey technology and serve as primary source of information to field personnel
  • Provide professional communication with clients on complex survey and business matters
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work effectively in both office and field environments for comprehensive oversight
  • Lead strategic initiatives in survey technology advancement and organizational development.
