About The Position

We are TKDA, a 100% employee-owned engineering, architecture, and design firm in Bloomington, Minnesota. We're eager to hire a Senior Professional Mechanical Engineer to help with our expansion. In this senior role, you'll lead the mechanical design of complex HVAC, plumbing, processing, and industrial systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial facilities nationwide. Your responsibilities will include preparing comprehensive technical documentation, ensuring quality and safety standards, and managing projects from conception through construction. As a vital team member, you'll collaborate with professionals across engineering disciplines and architecture to deliver integrated solutions for clients in industrial, food and beverage, educational, and commercial sectors. Additionally, you'll mentor less experienced colleagues and contribute to our business growth through our 'Seller-Doer' approach—cultivating client relationships, developing proposals, and participating in marketing initiatives alongside management. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ten to fifteen years of previous experience with an emphasis on the design of mechanical facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for various commercial and/or industrial facilities.
  • Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the project development process including coordination with other disciplines during design and construction.
  • Ability to apply effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced professionals.
  • Prior experience providing and leading Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) reviews.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and flexibility to travel as needed (up to 10%).

Nice To Haves

  • Professional registration in additional states with a preference of Wisconsin, Illinois, South Dakota, and Iowa.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or Plant 3D.
  • Previous experience working with energy modeling software such as Trane Trace.
  • Previous experience with boiler and/or chiller system design for facilities.
  • Previous experience with district heating and cooling, lab ventilation, or fire protection.
  • Previous experience with the creation of air balance diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, equipment general arrangement drawings and piping / HVAC plan drawings.
  • Previous experience designing systems for food production facilities.
  • LEED certification.
