About The Position

J2 Integrity Solutions is seeking a Senior Auditor of Coding Quality & Education to lead the review and evaluation of clinical coding accuracy, documentation integrity, and compliance with applicable coding guidelines and regulatory standards. This role serves as a subject matter expert in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, modifier, and applicable CMS and payer-specific requirements, ensuring high-quality coding practices that support accurate professional billing and revenue integrity. In addition to performing complex professional audits across multiple specialties and services lines, the Senior Audit develops and delivers targeted education to coders, providers, and documentation staff to promote best practices, reduce denials, and support continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detailed-oriented leader with a strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement, coding workflows, and training methodologies. This position plays a critical role in shaping coding excellence and fosters a culture of compliance, collaboration, and learning. Other duties as assigned. While your primary focus will be coding quality and education, you will also be expected to contribute in areas that may extend beyond traditional coding and audit responsibilities. This could include developing J2-branded content and tools, assisting with internal initiatives, supporting marketing efforts, attending industry events, or helping to build our professional presence – including cultivating your own voice on platforms like LinkedIn. Requirements

  • Certification: CCS, CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 5+ years in professional coding audit, compliance, or education roles, with at least 2 years of direct physician engagement.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with EHR and coding technology platforms.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, HCC, and risk adjustment methodologies.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive audits of medical coding across inpatient, outpatient, and/or professional services to assess accuracy, compliance, and documentation quality.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), tip sheets, PowerPoint presentations, and other educational content and materials.
  • Identify trends, root causes, and opportunities in coding and clinical documentation practices.
  • Provide clear, respectful, and constructive feedback to coders, providers, and other stakeholders, including situations that require difficult or direct conversations.
  • Using audit results, develop and deliver targeted one-on-one and group education sessions to address identified gaps and promote best practices, while maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner to coding teams, clinical leaders, revenue integrity, and compliance to support organizational goals.
  • Act as a role model of professionalism and integrity, ensuring all audit activities align with regulatory standards, internal policies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Engage confidently with all levels of staff, executives, physicians, coders, and support teams – with an approachable demeanor.
  • Identify coding trends, risks, and opportunities for education and process improvement.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory updates, industry changes, and best practices.
  • Partner with clients to assess their current state of coding operations, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Lead and support strategic projects related to coding quality and compliance.
  • Provide consultative recommendations to clients on improving coding quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Roll up your sleeves to assist with the day-to-day support needed. Create internal policies, procedures, and work efforts at J2.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador of J2 Integrity Solutions.
