About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the control of operational expenses, ensuring compliance with federal meat inspection standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies. The role supports maintaining a nonunion environment, determining manpower needs, and providing recommendations to leadership. The Sr Production Manager will prepare and maintain accurate operational records and reports, resolve issues effectively with proper follow-up, and work closely with department heads to meet production, quality, yield, and performance metrics while maintaining established labor standards. This position also ensures compliance with housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety standards. The role includes managing, evaluating, and training production supervisors, overseeing designated shift operations across all 3 shifts, and performing additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of related industry experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a food processing facility; pork or beef preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HACCP regulations.
  • Experience with raw bacon processing (receiving, injection, smokehouse operations, and press operations) strongly preferred.
  • Advanced computer proficiency and high level SAP skills are required and must exceed standard expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with team members at all levels—from hourly team members to upper management—as well as government officials.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, strong problem solving skills, effective team player, sound judgment and decision making, ability to lead by example, delegate responsibility, and follow up with strong accountability standards.
  • Manage subordinate supervisors who oversee hourly team members
  • Execute responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Interview, hire, and train team members
  • Plan, assign, and direct daily work
  • Monitor and appraise work performance
  • Reward, coach, counsel, and discipline team members
  • Address complaints and resolve problems effectively
  • Ability to work with department heads to meet safety, production, and quality yield goals.
  • All Tyson Team Members are responsible for safety, including personal safety and food safety.
  • Must not have 4 or more attendance points for locations on an 8 point policy (on application date)
  • No disciplinary actions with the last 12 months
  • Preference for internal team members with raw bacon processing experience (receiving, injection, smokehouse, and press)
