About The Position

The Senior Production Manager leads multiple manufacturing work centers and cross functional teams to ensure operational excellence in safety, quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic production plans, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and mentoring mid-level managers and Supervisors. The Senior Production Manager plays a key role in aligning production operations with organizational goals, customer expectations, and long-term growth strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years of related work experience.
  • 6+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including 4+ years managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven success in leading large-scale production operations, preferably in Electrical Switchgear or Power Generation equipment.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems (IFS, SAP, Oracle) and production planning tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets and driving cost reduction initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (certification preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions and performance improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills with a focus on succession planning.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple production areas across diverse manufacturing disciplines, managing teams of Supervisors, Team Leads, and support staff.
  • Develop and implement strategic production plans to meet forecasted demand, optimize resource utilization, and ensure delivery targets.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and HR to improve operational performance and resolve systemic issues.
  • Champion Safety initiatives, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement efforts to reduce waste, improve flow, and enhance product quality.
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics (labor hours, throughput, quality, safety) and drive corrective/preventative actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Methods of Manufacturing (MoM’s), Manufacturing Assembly Instructions (MAI’s) and safety protocols.
  • Mentor and develop production leadership talent, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align production capabilities with business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Manage departmental budgets, labor planning, and capital improvement projects.
