We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Product Safety Specialist to join our team in Lake Forest, IL. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of product safety and stewardship specialists to assess global hazard communication requirements through internal processes, author Safety Data Sheets (SDS), review and approve product labeling, perform risk analysis, conduct Restricted Substance Assessments, develop product compliance strategies, and associated tasks. This role is critical in ensuring our products comply with relevant safety regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in product safety or stewardship, hazard communication, Regulatory, Quality, Technical functions or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with SDS authoring platforms (e.g., ChemGes, SAP EHS, Lisam ExESS, Sphera/Enablon).
  • Experience with chemical hazard classification under various national, regional, and international regulations.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory frameworks including OSHA 1910.1200, CLP, and REACH.
  • Experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
  • Dangerous Goods certified.
  • Experience with both OSHA and REACH a plus along with conducting hazard assessments.
  • Expected to function with little direction and be able to independently drive complex projects to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Product Safety team to evaluate and assess hazard communication requirements for various CoreDx products.
  • Perform global GHS/CLP/OSHA Hazard Classification for clinical chemistry, immunoassay, and transfusion products, ensuring regulatory accuracy across all markets.
  • Support Dangerous Goods (DG) classification for transport (IATA, IMDG, DOT), including assignment of UN numbers, packing groups, and transport hazard labels.clp
  • Serve as internal SME for OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200, EU CLP, REACH Annex II, and other global hazard communication standards.
  • Author and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all customer, internal, and feasibility- products.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and risk evaluations for new and existing products.
  • Review and approve product labeling and Risk Management Reports to ensure all hazard content have correct information.
  • Review and approve restricted substance management assessments.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with national and international hazard communication regulations and standards (GHS, CLP, OSHA, etc). Communicate impacts to stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Product Safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on product safety matters to internal teams and customer inquiries.
  • Support customer Product Safety inquiries, SDS requests, and regulatory compliance questions.
  • Prepare and present safety reports and documentation as required.
  • Take an active role in collaborating with the Product Stewardship program, including activities involving RSM Assessments, Supplier Compliance campaigns, and more.
  • Conduct data entry and analysis activities as it relates to Product Safety and Product Stewardship.
