About The Position

Do you want an opportunity to build and deliver product strategies at a leading technology organization supporting Defense Edge, Akamai's FedRAMP High and IL5-certified platform designed to deliver secure edge, cloud, segmentation, and Zero Trust Capabilities to defense and public sector mission environments? Join our innovative security product marketing team. As a Sr. Product Marketing Manager, you will work closely with marketing and product teams to maximize Akamai’s impact in the market across Defense Edge and the broader public sector portfolio, including DoD, federal civilian agencies, and SLED customers operating in regulated and mission-critical environments. You will collaborate with demand and growth marketers to develop motions to engage customers across several high profile marketing initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in shaping Akamai’s next phase of growth, engaging with audiences at all levels to drive product adoption holistically and at scale within classified, IL5, FedRAMP High, and other regulated government environments. Partner with the best You will work on the security product portfolio with a primary focus on Defense Edge and Guardicore segmentation capabilities supporting Zero Trust and mission system protection. The Zero Trust product marketing team creates compelling solution and technical stories, collaborates with the digital Marketing team to activate buyer journeys, and supports our network security business customer engagements at in person and digital events including government-focused industry events, agency briefings, and partner engagements. Requirements

  • Have 8 years of relevant experience and Bachelor's or its equivalent
  • Have experience driving product growth strategies within enterprise technology companies Federal, DoD, civilian, and SLED customers, with a strong understanding of public sector procurement processes, buying cycles, mission priorities, and ecosystem partners
  • Possess deep technical knowledge of Zero Trust architectures, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, cloud-native security, segmentation, edge, and workload protection solutions, including familiarity with NIST 800-53, NIST SP 800-207, FedRAMP, FISMA, IL classifications, and related compliance and accreditation processes
  • Be able to contribute to product development and release cycles with consideration for public sector requirements such as Authority to Operate (ATO), FedRAMP authorization, IL5/FedRAMP High environments, and government deployment models supporting mission-critical and regulated systems
  • Define and deliver high-value user experiences that drive adoption among developers, self-service customers, government operators, security teams, mission owners, and program stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, adapting messaging for internal teams and external audiences including contracting officers, technical evaluators, executive leadership, and mission system owners
  • Be able to position network and Zero Trust security solutions within public sector markets by aligning messaging to mission outcomes, compliance mandates, and modernization initiatives such as cloud adoption, application modernization, and mission system protection
  • Be able to balance strategic thinking with operational execution by developing tools, processes, and resources that improve efficiency across geographically distributed public sector teams
  • Be able to apply knowledge of DoD mission environments—including mission systems, workload isolation, NIPRNet/SIPRNet, IL designations, and defense-specific operational requirements—to demonstrate how segmentation, edge security, and Zero Trust architectures reduce lateral movement, protect critical workloads, and enforce least-privilege access across hybrid and defense environments.

Responsibilities

  • Building foundational positioning for Defense Edge and Gaurdicore by aligning product capabilities, product-market fit, and value drivers to Federal, DoD, and SLED mission requirements compliance mandates, procurement environments, and workload isolation and segmentation needs
  • Partnering with Product to define vision, persona-based messaging, and product-led growth strategies for self-service cloud customers and government buyers, including technical evaluators, program managers, mission owners, and acquisition stakeholders
  • Designing high-value user journeys that increase adoption across the Zero Trust portfolio, assigned to federal Zero Trust maturity models, identify modernization efforts, secure access initiatives, and mission system protection requirements
  • Creating compelling solution narratives that resonate with government mission outcomes, risk reduction priorities, and compliance requirements, highlighting use cases such as segmentation, workload isolation, secure edge delivery, and Zero Trust enablement
  • Collaborating with Marketing, Sales, public sector growth teams, channel partners, and system integrators to drive awareness, demand generation, product launches, and customer storytelling tailored to Federal and SLED audiences
  • Developing educational programs, campaigns, and field enablement resources that support government-specific messaging and position Defense Edge and Gaurdicore as foundational Zero Trust technologies
  • Crafting differentiated Defense Edge messaging emphasizing FedRAMP High and IL5 compliance accelerated Authority to operate (ATO) enablement, workload isolation, and mission-ready deployment for defense and civilian agencies
  • Supporting go-to-market strategy and field enablement to help government customers contain lateral movement, reduce blast radius, and enforce Zero Trust across hybrid, edge, and mission-critical environments
