About The Position

The Sr. Product Manager, Legal Innovation will serve as a technical strategist and product builder focused on transforming the delivery of legal services within our practice groups. At MoFo, we’re transforming the way we deliver legal services by deeply embedding technology & AI in our practice workflows. Reporting to the Director of Practice Innovation & Technology, this role is primarily responsible for bridging the gap between legal practitioners, operational teams, and engineering. As part of this, your primary responsibility will be to re-imagine how we deliver legal services by: Critically analyzing and reinventing workflows in collaboration with legal practitioners and operational teams to move beyond "incremental" improvements toward truly transformative delivery models. Designing re-imagined workflows, bespoke tools, and AI-enabled solutions that significantly improve the delivery of legal services while maintaining our ethical and professional responsibilities. Leading stakeholder management by securing high-level buy-in from partners, practitioners, and operational teams, acting as a persuasive advocate for the "future of work." Applying Product Management rigor to the legal space—defining clear requirements, managing the product lifecycle, and partnering with engineering to execute against each solution. Rapid prototyping and executing no/low-code solutions to prove value before scaling.

Requirements

  • The PM Mindset: You have 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, with a proven track record of taking a product from ideation to launch. You understand how to define a MVP, manage a backlog, and measure success.
  • GenAI Enthusiast: You are obsessed with the latest trends in AI. You aren't just reading headlines; you are testing prompts, building side projects, and following the technical shifts in the industry.
  • Master Communicator: You possess exceptional stakeholder management skills. You can translate complex technical concepts for a Senior Partner and translate legal nuances for a Software Engineer with equal ease.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or a related field.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of emerging technologies (AI/ML, RAG, Agentic frameworks). Demonstrated ability to build within low-code/no-code environments.
  • Financial Acumen: Familiarity with large law firm financial processes and the ability to articulate the ROI of innovation investments.

Nice To Haves

  • Big Law Context: Experience in big law environment is highly preferred, with an understanding of either transactional law or litigation.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) or MBA is highly preferred to ensure peer-level credibility with partners.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Product Roadmap & Market Intelligence
  • Product Vision: Act as the primary lead for market analysis on emerging AI technologies. Execute "make vs. buy" assessments to determine when to procure third-party tools versus architecting proprietary solutions.
  • Product Portfolio & Lifecycle Management: Continuously audit and manage the Firm’s portfolio of legal innovation tools. Perform rigorous gap analyses to determine which emerging tools are required and which existing legacy tools should be decommissioned or replaced to ensure our tech stack remains "best-in-class."
  • Pilot & Scale: Lead the execution of pilot and proof-of-concept programs. You will move successful pilots from initial concept to enterprise-grade deployment, ensuring they meet rigorous PM standards for usability and value.
  • AI Evangelism: Maintain a "state-of-the-art" understanding of the GenAI landscape. Constantly test, break, and evaluate new tools (LLMs, agents, RAG architectures) to identify their potential application in Big Law.
  • Product Development & Solution Architecture
  • Solution Design: Analyze operational workflows within Transactional practices to identify friction points and architect comprehensive technology solutions—ranging from streamlined data pipelines to complex, multi-step automation.
  • Technical Bridge: Serve as the primary translator between legal requirements and engineering. Leverage low-code/no-code platforms to rapidly prototype solutions and drive the technical integration of AI tools into substantive legal work.
  • Agentic Workflow Construction: Design and build agentic AI workflows that can handle complex legal reasoning tasks (e.g., deal management, due diligence automation, closing mechanics), moving beyond simple chat interfaces to autonomous task execution.
  • Data-Driven Iteration: Leverage technology usage data and attorney feedback to refine internal tools, ensuring they evolve based on actual user behavior and pain points.
  • Practice Alignment & Stakeholder Management
  • Practice Economics: Collaborate with leadership to identify levers for improving matter profitability. Ensure that AI implementations align with cost-to-serve analysis and pricing strategies.
