About The Position

The Product Line Manager manages the product life cycle to ensure that it meets the requirements of customers. They devise the product development strategy and supervise multiple teams throughout the process, ensuring the delivery of a product that meets customer expectations while achieving anticipated profitability. Product Line Managers work with other department heads such as the Sales teams, Applications Engineering, Customer Service Representatives etc. They establish the key features of a product and use market trends, competitive positioning and customer buying habits data to create specifications. Product Line Managers also develop strategies for positioning and pricing products as well as the strategy for end-of-life and product rationalization. They are champions supporting Nordson Business Systems (NBS Next) through all aspects. Responsible for setting the direction, leading, and managing the Product Line (PL) globally to maximize sales revenue and profitability, in alignment with the financial and strategic plans for the division. As a key member of the cross-functional PL team, drive excellence in all aspects of the business through implementation and application of the Nordson Business Systems (NBS Next) and Nordson ASCEND growth strategies. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering and/or business qualifications.
  • 10+ years product development experience in semiconductor companies
  • Strong business development, and product management experience, including ownership of product roadmaps.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes with deep knowledge in Front end processing and capital equipment industry
  • Broad technical skills across all hardware and software engineering disciplines
  • Proven ability to foster partnerships, lead cross functional teams, work with management, and direct work of employees on the product team
  • Strong track record of delivering successful and innovative products from concept phase into manufacturing
  • Project management with experience in detailed project plans, task estimation, managing project team members, identifying and mitigating project risks, communicating project status to appropriate management levels, identifying and resolving project issues and controlling project scope

Responsibilities

  • Product Line Roadmap: Own the Product Roadmap, gathering insights from Sales, Engineering, Operations, and market studies. Collaborate with Regional Sales for an innovative revenue-focused roadmap, ensuring competitive pricing and alignment with market trends. Work closely with Engineering for precise product requirements adaptable to market needs. Partner with Operations Director to address manufacturing, sourcing, and quality risks for new products. Utilize market intelligence to develop a roadmap addressing future customer needs and driving revenue growth. Ensure competitive price/performance alignment with industry standards. Disseminate relevant market intelligence to teams and identify competitor products for benchmarking. Support service & spares, optimizing the product life cycle for maximum aftermarket revenue.
  • Program Management: Directs all phases of programs from inception to completion. Promotes tradeoff proposals to key stakeholders and proactively negotiates product specifications that simultaneously ensure customer needs are met in a realizable product. Supervises translation of product requirements into product specifications. Provides leadership for all product development aspects including hardware and software Directs cross-functional product teams, including R&D, manufacturing engineering, and quality Manages programs with plans and objectives to address technical, performance, cost, schedule, and quality risks Facilitates design reviews of requirements, system architecture, integration tests, and final design verification and validation testing and provide regular program updates to senior management
  • Strategic Product Marketing contribution: Developing annual strategic marketing plans which drive the product line expected growth. Work with Marketing Manager to identify relevant tradeshows and advertising spend to achieve target customer/industry growth. Work with the engineering, quality, and procurement departments of front end semiconductor OEM tool makers to facilitate product adoption Support the marcom team to generate impactful content for Regional Sales teams such as sales presentations, brochures, application notes, specification data sheets, web information and other promotional activities.
  • Product Line Commercials: Assume commercial responsibility for the Product Line and specifically Top New Products revenue and gross margin. Provide Go To Market Strategy (GTSM) for product line & hold monthly regional calls for close collaboration. On an annual basis, support the development of our five-year strategic plan identifying market and business opportunities and strategic direction for the Product Line with regard to Product Innovation. Define the price lists for the Product Line, regularly reviewing and optimizing them in line with the Gross Margin commitments for the business. Ensure that pricing is optimized regionally, all price lists are current and accurate at all times. Where appropriate, work with the other Product Line Managers to maximize sales opportunities across all product lines. Provide accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts for the Product Line and specifically Top New Products.
